Start the New Year with Extra College Savings!

Published by Wendy Nelson on

If you are not already signed up with Upromise, make it one of the first things you do in the new year.  In 2012, I received almost $400 in extra college savings from everyday activities.  Most of it was from shopping online.  When you shop at all of your favorite websites, all you have to do is find out whether they offer college savings through Upromise.  Most sites offer 5% of your sales total in college savings.  That means they will put that 5% in your Upromise account.  It is additional savings and does not cost you anything.  You can even save when booking vacations online through many sites – a $2500 family vacation can give you $125 in your Upromise account!  While $400 for one year doesn’t sound like much, if you continue to use Upromise for 10 years or more, you will have a ton of extra money for your kid’s college account.

Click on the link above and check it out.  It is definitely the easiest and most painless way I have added money to my kid’s college funds.  This is an affiliate link so I will earn a small amount of commission when you sign up.  Trust me, you will be glad you did.  I started saving with Upromise back in 2001 and my oldest daughter has lots of extra money for college above and beyond what I saved.  You can even download the “TurboSaver” on your web browser.  This will remind you anytime you are on a site that contributes Upromise dollars and will automatically provide your savings.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about how Upromise works.  Just post them below.

Happy New Year!
