“I figured that high of an ACT score had to be worth something.”

Thanks for putting that scholarship list together. Our daughter was really indifferent about college, partly because of the cost estimates from the few colleges she checked out, and it was really frustrating me. She got a 34 on her ACT and around a 3.1 cumulative GPA. I figured that high of an ACT score had to be worth something. Finally I did a Google search for Scholarships for a high ACT score and came across your site ... From that I found that she should qualify for free out-of-state tuition at Ole Miss with her score and GPA, and it had a strong international studies and foreign language program which is what she was interested in. I called admissions the next day to see if it was true and it was. She applied and got accepted with full tuition award plus an extra $1000! We just scheduled her Freshman Orientation session and we couldn’t be happier. Thanks again!

What You Get in the All New Full Scholarship List 9.1

Find a wide variety of full-tuition and full-ride merit-based scholarships  your top student will qualify for in this sortable and filterable

Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

(Other formats available on request.)

1

Automatic Merit Scholarships

These are automatic awards offered directly by colleges to attract top students.

These scholarships are usually based on the student's high school GPA and/or ACT/SAT scores. Automatic scholarships are awarded to all students who meet the specified criteria. These full tuition and full ride automatic scholarships are offered to attract the best students.

You will know whether or not your student qualifies before even applying to the college.

2

Competitive Merit Scholarships

These are competitive scholarships offered directly by colleges to attract top students.

Unlike automatic scholarships, these require the student to compete against other top students for a limited number of awards.

Some of these involve specific scholarship competitions and others are based directly off of the admission application.

You will not know if your student will be awarded a competitive merit scholarship until after admission decisions are complete.

3

National Merit/Hispanic Recognition Merit Scholarships

These are offered directly by the colleges to students awarded these designations by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

These are not the scholarships awarded directly by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for students who score high on the PSAT test.

These are scholarships that colleges award to attract students who scored high on the PSAT test and were awarded a designation by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation - usually National Merit Finalist, Semi-Finalist or Hispanic Recognition Scholar.

4

Talent Scholarships

Have a student with art, music, dance or theater talent?

Find out what schools offer full tuition and full ride scholarships for students with major talent. Most require the student to major in their talent area, but some do not.

Bonus Tab! - Colleges That Do Not Offer Merit-Based Scholarships

These schools only offer need-based scholarships and grants to incoming freshmen.

To make sure you aren't left wondering why you don't see certain high-profile schools on this list, I added the listing of schools that don't offer any merit scholarships on a separate tab. These schools only offer need-based aid.

What Our Customers Have Said

"Thanks so much for this list! As a parent of a rising senior- I have been having periodic freak outs regarding college expenses around the corner! But, seeing the opportunities for her with her ACT scores, and potential to be a National Merit scorer, I am much relieved!"

- Karan

"Thank you SO much for this excellent Full Scholarship List. I can’t begin to count the number of times we’ve used it over the past several months in search of the right college for our soon-to-be senior daughter. We’ve appreciated the free updates, and we were pleased to see even more scholarships listed on the newest version. "

Who Should Buy This List?

  • Families who won't qualify for need-based aid and will need merit-based aid to afford college
  • Students with good to best ACT/SAT scores and high GPAs
  • Students who haven't already narrowed down to a list of colleges to apply to
  • Students who are open to going to school anywhere that will offer a full tuition or better scholarship
  • Students who have what it takes to compete for a prestigious full tuition/full ride scholarship at a top school
  • Parents who are open to consider sending their student to a school they have never heard of before
  • Families who understand that major merit scholarships are offered by schools to attract top students and that colleges that already attract top students do not offer many full tuition and better scholarships (there are some, but not many)
  • Families who understand the odds of winning a full scholarship are great, but they want to try

Who Should Not Buy This List?

  • Students with a high school GPA below 3.0, ACT score below a 23/SAT score below 1000 (may qualify for some merit scholarships, but probably not full ride/full tuition)
  • Students who have already narrowed down to a list of colleges to apply to
  • Students who are only willing to consider specific schools
  • Parents who aren't open to sending their student to a school they have never heard of before
  • Families who think a full tuition/full ride scholarship is easy to come by (there are many different statistics out there, but on average, less than 1% of college applicants are offered academic full scholarships)
